I personally opted to use top end Fujiploy thermal clay (17 W/mK) on the voltage regulators. All of which is either mediocre to decent at best from the manufacture. Then adjust PL in increments of 5 until you boost to where you need to for that card.īut here's the caveat to this it only works if you have a excellent pressure mount, thermal paste on your GPU and better thermal pads for the vregs and ic vrams. The best way to determine how much PL you need is to do a fire strike loop in window mode. You have to create a balancing act as to how much PL you actually need and lock it there. The more you increase PL the more the video card is drawing power producing more heat. (scroll down a bit to read the long post.ignore the 1st post regarding to set wattman profiles). For example: Steam's wallpaper engine might cause it to ramp up to full clock rate doing that. So if you are overclocking that's what you will see. The card will still "downclock" as it should in 2d mode but any application that requires the use of the video card will cause it to go into full 3d mode. ![]() However, the original suggestion was to disable them all. So perhaps with newer drivers you might see some of those DS options disabled already. However, this information came from AMD Reddit and a Radeon Software Vanguard member flagged it for investigation about a month ago. There maybe more "DS_." options depending on the card. To undo the changes: Start up MPT > Select you GPU > Delete SPPT > Reboot PC To keep the GPU from going into deep sleep do to "lightly gpu loaded games that are CPU intensive" you uncheck All "DS_." options: You start up MPT > Select you GPU > Load your Bios saved file from GPUz > Features Tab > Feature Control Now what I did find interesting is that if you are experiencing fps that go from 200 FPS to 100 FPS and back up to 200FPS to look into something called DeepSleep states using MPT.
